Old Bob officially World’s Oldest Male Gorilla!

Our own celebrity Old Bob, has now become a worldwide sensation after inheriting the title of the the world‘s oldest male gorilla.

While this news brings celebrations; it is a bittersweet moment, as for Old Bob to inherit this title, another beloved gorilla has sadly died. Ozoum or Ozzie as he was affectionately called was truly a legendary gorilla. He lived in Zoo Atlanta in the United States and died Tuesday (25th January) at the age of 61. He was believed to have been born in June 1961. You can read more about Ozzie here ://oldest-animals.fandom.com/wiki/Ozoum.

Despite the sadness of Ozzie’s death, we would be lying if we said we weren’t over the moon for Old Bob’s achievement. It’s truly incredible we have the honour to house such an incredible animal right here in Thanet. We will be continuing to post updates on Old Bob and will be holding a celebration for his new title on Sunday 30th January at the British Gorilla Foundation.

Old Bob remains in excellent health and is given daily challenges to stimulate his mind and simulate the wild. The British Gorilla Foundation is committed to providing a fulfilling and natural experience to all our gorillas - but to do so we need your support. Please raise awareness by sharing this wonderful news on social media and by tweeting #OldBobGorilla
